for this final project, i decided to try something more difficult that anything else we've done so far. i used the same skills from my pinch pot to create the beginning shape of my pointe shoe. i then cut out the main slot, and worked hard to shape it into a realistic shoe. the designs were as close to real as i could get, as i used my real shoe as inspiration. this project taught me valuable skills that i will continue using next year in ceramics!

this project used a combination of all the previous skills i learned this year. i used the same techniques as the last mug to create the shape of this decorated mug, and then used all of the techniques for rolling and molding/attaching clay to create the leaves and roses. i used all of the same tools as in my other projects to take away clay to create vines and other small flower designs. the glazing skills i have gotten from our other assignments i also used to paint this mug, while making sure it wouldn't stick to the kiln!
This mug taught me the basics for shaping clay into a mug shape. i learned how to create a handle by creating a pyramid shape and then hitting it against the table and dragging water down the clay. these skills are going to help me with my future mug projects. i will be able to use the clay skills and knowledge i learned working on this project with the rest of my clay projects for the year!
this unit helped me learn how to better score and slip clay to attach it in ways that it won't fall apart. i used all my knowledge from making the pinch pot and the slip jar to shape my clay into different forms, making sure i added negative space. to glaze it, i used a brush to evenly spread 4 different colors over the hard clay. overall, i will continue using the skills from this project in all of the rest of my clay assignments!
for this project, i used my new skills in creating pinch pots and using the cut and slip method. i learned how to attach separate pieces of clay together so that they stuck in the kiln, as well as worked on recreating an owl similar to the picture i used for inspiration. we later learned how to properly glaze the clay projects, and i used this knowledge to evenly coat my owl in glaze in a way that wouldn't make it stuck inside of the kiln. i will continue using all of this knowledge for the rest of our clay unit!
during this unit, we worked lots on shading, shaping our facial features, and making the most realistic views of ourselves. this portrait was from a 3/4 angle, so i used the shading skills to add a 3D effect that would show that my head was turned. i used the rest of these skills to finish the unit, and will use them from now on whenever i need to draw people!
This unit focused on using hues, shades, and values. I think this painting successfully shows my new knowledge of these things many ways. I used hues to mix the colors together to create the color I needed to imitate on my painting. I used shades when i wanted the color to show up lighter or darker. To do this I added more or less water, which made the values accurate. I learned so much from this unit, and hope to continue using this knowledge in future art projects. The image on the left shows the finished tree, however the colors didn't show up very well in that picture, so the one on the right shows what the background of the painting really looks like(:
